New turbo needed
« on: August 17, 2007, 04:12:49 pm »
Would anyone be able to help me find a new or rebuilt turbo.

My existing engine for my 82 diesel westy is a 1.6TD from an 86 golf. The turbo is seized and I have bought two used 'duds' off e-bay to replace the turbo. I'm not doing that anymore.
The turbo is a Garrett TA030 # 465384-5  or if using the O.E.M. VW # 068145703F.

My small local turbo shop says there are no more parts or cartridges available for that turbo. I find that hard to believe.

I would also accept a complete 1.9TD AAZ exhaust manifold and turbo to replace the old.  NOT a TDI  however.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
David

you should look at getting a VNT-15 turbo as they are very quick spooling and will help you get moving faster.

named TinTin has a mechanical way of better controlling the turbo than using a boost can to control the vanes.

even a K03 will do your motor justice much better than a K24/T3/K14.
