When I idle, I hear a sound under the passenger side - it sounds like a timing belt off of time. a whiny repetitive sound.
When i turn the wheel left or right (when driving) the sound gets louder and there is heavy resistance to turn... also the car seems to bounce better on the driver side than the passenger side.
something wrong w/ the shock? timing belt? why is there so much resistance when i turn?
I felt a "bump" like i drove over something when i was backing out of a parking spot - the problem started from then.
you reversed out of your parking spot, hit another car and creased the front fender so it now rubs on the tyre.
What year car and what options do you have?
I'm thinking it's related to power steering
i didn't hit anyone - and its a 1990 VW golf coupe. i dont think i have power steering.
i really needed my car so i just took it to a garage - it was a belt of some kind. he replaced it and its running well again.
the original belt is still good, it just popped off the wheel.
he says my break cable running to my passenger side wheel is wearing thin, so i might have to replace that. how big an operation is that?
