Windage tray?

Hi everyone,
Has anyone tried one of these in a TDI? (AHU engine)
I'm wondering if the longer crank will have clearance problems, since this is designed for the 2.0?
Thanks, Mikki x

the TDI 1Z that i bought did not have one, although the oil pump had some sort of baffle on it.

Not in my AHU either. I know cos I took the crank out today to get the nose machined after pulley wobble  Also discovered my big end and mains are toast too dammit!
I figure if it'll fit then it's worth putting in while it's in bits, since the original sump gasket was leaking anyway.
In the IDI's was it standard in the 1.6 or 1.9?

Windage tray was only stock in some 16v's from what I know and the ABA 2.0 engines.
I did install one in my AHU/1z build...its in the pics I believe as well. No issues. Fit very nicely. Biggest issue with the windage trays is that for many they don't seem to "seal" correctly. I haven't had that problem as of yet...
Now the valve cover (mainly upper grommets on p side/timing belt side...) thats another issue

put it in,i got one
its just nice for the fact of the 1 piece rubber gasket that is reusable
ive had my pan off a few times since my rebuild, and its been worth it for the lack of scraping off nasty paper gaskets alone
itll help in the corners for sure,if not that the pickup isnt covered(thats another issue)
it helps keep the oil that is remaining in the pan from riding up its walls and hittin the crank
an old timer once showed me a trick
take a 1 qt oil can with a clear strip on the side, and pour out 1/2 the oil
reseal the lid
and lay it on your dashboard sideways so you can see the oil thru the clear section + tape it down+go 4 a ride
you will be surprised what is going on in your "oil pan"
a good trap door around the sump is great
im rambling
just put it in,i use just the ever slightest dab of sealer where the seal plates are meeting the block on the gasket surface

Thanks for the replies guys
Doing a bit more research the AAZ and 1Y seemed to have it from the factory but not the 1Z and AHU which is odd :?:
I'll definitely be fitting one now, when I get my crank back from the machine shop!

When installing the Windage tray on an AHU, did you use any type of sealant on each side of the baffle's rubber seal?
