So I got a new toy... a Torchmate 1 CNC plasma cutter
« on: August 30, 2013, 01:35:52 pm »
I am a craigslist addict. big time. I buy and sell on there a lot and trade even more. In my surfing (usually while in the bathroom on my phone) i found a cnc plasma cutter for trade. Hell. Yeah.

He wanted the usual guy stuff; 4x4 trucks, 4 wheelers, women with three breast, guns, whatever. I offered up this big lifted jeep cherokee that I had on 35's and was built and used as a prerunner. It was pretty BA. No dice. He wasn't interested in it. Then i  threw out other stuff like my 68 mustang, dirt bikes,  4x4 f150, enclosed trailers, my tractor blah blah blah. He said he would like to have a nice 4 wheeler. As luck would have it I had some kid offer me a tricked out 450 yfz. He came up and we traded easy peazy. CNC guy still wanted more. Wanted to know if i would throw my f150 in. I said no, so he offered to throw in a dodge dakota with a 318 in with the plasma cutter. Game on.

In the long line of  trades to get the Jeep i started out with a volvo sedan that i got in trade with a volvo wagon that i sold my aunt. I made money on the wagon and got the sedan basically for free. Traded that for a 16v turbo 86 gti. Traded that for the jeep. Traded the jeep for the 4 wheeler. So basically free on that end. The f150 i traded for this 02 auto jetta with issues. I bought it for a grand. So in the plasma cutter and the truck i have a grand. I think i can get a grand out of the truck so i basically got a free CNC plasma cutter for some time trading.

It cuts 4'x8' and will do up to 5/8" steel. So i'm thinking engine adapter plates, egr deletes, custom motor mounts, 16v intake manifolds and whatever else i can come up with. If you guys have any ideas of stuff you need done throw them out here maybe i can help or can come up with somethig to help the vwdiesel community out.

I've got a friend I met in college who wheels and deals on CL; he basically lives off his trading. Pretty neat, I've always thought. Sounds like you've done quite well for yourself  :D

Do a run of block girdles; money in the bank. Even if they don't sell out immediately, they're rare enough that you'll sell them all eventually. Might also be worth looking into making a mk2 vnt-compatible rear engine mount.

Oh and if you're talking engine adapter plates, go ahead and make an adapter to put a TDI into a BMW E30; I'd buy half a dozen  ;D
Green 83 Rabbit 4dr, 5 speed ACH trans swap, ported 1.6D mech lifter w/ vnt15, na pump w/ gov mod, gasser intake mani, 2.5" exhaust, bilstein sports and cut mk2 springs, ss brake lines, 14" vw bottlecaps

I agree with the vw to e30 adapters. We have debated doing the swap a few times. Decided on using the toyota tranny and making a driveshaft to make the swap easier, but maybe ill see what I can do. I really need some cad classes to make this stuff go faster.

Does anyone have a vnt in a mk2 yet? What all modifications need to be made to the mount?

I used to have a torch mate and have a bunch of dxfs if you want them.  My best seller was cummins header flanges.
