So do these markers have a habit of falling out...
« on: March 23, 2011, 04:25:32 pm »
... or have I been vandalized?  ???

I noticed yesterday that there was a hole in my front bumper next to my turn signal.  As the photo (that I took for the insurance company) shows, it was there originally.  :o

I looked at the hole, and there's nothing broken or scraped, no bits left hanging around in the gaping orifice... did this thing just fall out, or have I been vandalized by an unscrupulous VW owner?

I'm assuming this is where the optional fog lights would go?  Are there aftermarket ones that fit, or do I need to scavenge the wreckers for OEM?

They are held very lightly by a spring clip on one side and a steel pin that is supposed to clip into 2 plastic tabs on the other. People force them and the plastic clips break and then on the first pothole they will go flying. Better to replace both pieces, the blank and the signal/running light lens, depending which is broken.

The aftermarket ones seem to fit even looser than the OEM ones in my experience...but if you go to a wreckers you will find lots of cars where that was the first thing taken. ;-)

if you find one, slap it in there with the adhesive of your choice.
