1.6 engine what to keep?
« on: April 04, 2008, 05:52:40 pm »
hi guy's!
I'm really pleased today :) just drove 250 km each way to pick up a fully functional 1.6 td engine for $cheap$ :P
it has a T3 turbo so that will be bolted up to my 1.9 to replace a K03 with a sick wastegate and I will also keep the boost pin. My question is: Are there any other parts I should keep before selling the motor?

also how do I go about setting the boost on this turbo :?: I have an intercooler ready so I would like to run about 15 psi.

I would keep it but I don't have a garage to store it in and leaving it outside it will rust and be useless soon enough.

Anyhow... I was looking at the T3 turbo and the downpipe is definately different from my K03.  can i use a MK2 downpipe or do i have to have it all fabbed up?

expect to get killed on shipping... but if you do find a cheap method please let me know.

You can use the mk2 downpipe but you'll have to make a custom piece to connect it to the rest of the exhaust. Personally I would either fab up my own 2.5" downpipe or buy one from PP. Your engine will love you for it.

thanks Burn, I think I will have the 2.5" pipe fabbed up, also, seeing as in Quebec we have no emissions tests I might go all the way and have a custon exhaust all the way back, no cat
