Title: nozzles
Post by: Zulfiqar on March 19, 2007, 11:24:58 pm
Hi,

what nozzles come in the 1.6 NA hydro head, when I opened up my injectors, they had mercedes 240 nozzles in it, while I have come to know that the 1.6 hyd head motor is supposed to use SD265 nozzles.

any help on that - and as bosch are getting very rare now, what other replacements are good.

Hallo,
I would advise DNO SD 297 or 273.
These are pre-injection nozzles, buildt in early  AAZ and 1y engines. They are phantastic so-called "whispering nozzles".

I came across this ancient looking guy with a small diesel shop who installed a set of ND denso nozzles in the golf's injectors he cross referenced to the bosch items. Did a half hour job on my pump .  DAMN this thing runs like burnt cat now.

Ive only got slight hazy smoke till 3/4 throttle and dark grey smoke at WOT

The guy said they are for some yanmar engine - but the 1.6 NA requirements are fulfilled by it.

Im also noticing less diesel rattle at idle but the speed seems to "hang" when decelerating, even when coming to a stop it will "release" to idle after a second. He says to forget it, because the nozzles flow more than stock.

With the smoke you have and the "hanging idle" it sounds like you could use a little turn (loosen) on the screw wit the 13mm lock nut, I had the same issue with a hanging idle lately. You probably only need an 1/8th turn, it is a very sensitive screw, this will reduce smoke at WOT and make the car a little slower though.

Turn this screw in 1/4 turn and see what happens
You need to loosen the 13mm lock nut

it helped the hanging idle but I lost power, I took the car to the pump repair technician - he readjusted the pump lever and power screw - it doesnt hang now - now it just releases its rpm from like 1000 to 850 (just guessing) after a second when I come to a stop.

The nozzle part number is 093400-3310

I think they are equivalent to the SD297 nozzles and they are extremely quiet - any nozzle gurus??
