Title: inj pump question
Post by: vixentd on December 02, 2006, 09:25:39 am
I have a 1993 Passat 1.9 one year old factory new motor with the new style crank.  The injection pump has started seeping at the top plate.  I notice the passat did not use an LDA system.  It seems to have lots of power and I am wondering if I should pick up a Jetta injection pump with the LDA.
1.  Will this give me better acceleration.
2.  Better power on the hills
3.  In normal driving will it decrease my fuel economy?
4.  Any other issues i should be aware of in considering this.
5.  Is it an easy thing to add a LDA to my pump, or is it easier to get anew pump.
Thanks

1 - hell ya, tons
2- yep
3- I don't know, I'm trying to figure that out right now (I disconencted my LDA)
4- the desire for more power? possibly resulting in a new engine... ot two?
5- New pump would be easier, but not cheaper. Of course you could always sell yours for some money back. If you do decided to keep it as a spare store it with ATF in it so the seals don't dry out (unless someone else says otherwise)
