Title: Swapping engine in a VW Caravelle
Post by: klang on September 22, 2006, 03:51:31 am
I'm wondering if a 1.6TD is bolt on to change in a VW caravelle?
It currently has a 2,1 Gas engine...
And we all know, we dont want that ;)

So is there any chance in hell I can get this engine in, or is it just loads of work?

Basically you want everything from a T3 1.6TD.

It is VW lego, but with a few gotchas.

Sump and pick up pipe. (JX sump has union on for oil return line)
flywheel and clutch, spigot shaft is shorter on a Diesel.

oh, hang on, look here...

Save me typing!

The Diesel loom will just clip into the junction box and work, swap the instruments for Diesel ones and get your glowplug light too.

I have 90% of a kit here, the going rate seems to be around £400 for all the bits..
