would it be worth fitting a cam shaft from a 1.8 gti 8v gas engine to a TDI or would there be valves bent
-
Valves will bend and the sprocket does not fit. I have TDI performance camshafts available. Pm me.

going to rebild my head with std stuff , and when i get it going good i mite up grade , need to get my pump sorted out and then tips , and then go from there :)

Tdi-rs reported good gains with the 8v GTI cam, however he had to modify both the cam to fit the sproket and had to fly cut the pistons for clearance. It's easier to just get one from PP.
-
Hey 935 - what are the gains with your cams again? Specifically HP, faster spoolup, and lower EGTs in what amounts?
Thanks.

It all depends on fuel, you could see egts only drop 50 degrees or you could see them drop 200 degrees if you are over fueled, the cam could give you 3WHP or 20-30WHP.

this has probably been discussed before but how about this?
would a hydro 1.6td cam be any different than the cam in my ahu tdi??
i thought the tdi engines had very low lift compared to the earlier idi engines :?:
-
any thing is poss how about fitting a 16v head of a gti to a tdi with difrant pistons to rase c.r and the cut outs for the valves and some adapter to get the injectors in  that be some cool looking tdi 8) and may go well to :D

No a gas vw 16 valve head will not fit, even with intense machine work.
