Where and how do you place a pyrometer probe in the 1.6 td exhaust? I am thinking of placing it before the turbo, but where does it go, or where is the best pace, and how do you do it?
Thanks

Mine is mounted about 2 inches past the turbo exhaust flange. On the pipe with a bung welded on there that the EGT probe inserts into. Some sensors come with a strap-like thing that you just drill a hole into the exhaust pipe and slip it in, and then tighten the strap to hold it in place. I think there was some way to seal it off to keep the exhaust in the pipe and out of the engine bay. The best mount is threaded.

I probably shouldn't have but I put it through the bolt hole on one of mine.
But it never caused a problem:
