Title: Drum brakes On 1997 TD MK3 AAZ (canada)
Post by: Fasteddy83 on October 05, 2024, 06:50:17 am
Hey everyone, i picked up a mk3 97 TD Jetta GL its got the AAZ, my question is which size drum brakes are on the rear im in the process of ordering parts, I'm working out of town and don't have the car here with me. Can anybody help me determine which size of drums i would have ? also any reccomnedations for replacement, ive also been wondering if the Gti brakes would fit the front, i believe it came with 239x12mm rotors (solid)

Thanks in advance

I believe 200 mm for the rear drums. GTI brakes will work on it.

Thanks for the reply, my next move is finding the correct wheel cylinders ? there seems to be multiple size bores ? what would you recommend its a 97 TD Jetta GL (mexican turbo diesel ..Not TDi) ive ordered the 200x40mm Rotors

i would go measure but im still in camp, (for another week) and dont have access, but hoping to have all the parts by the time i get home so i can do the install on days off

Thanks in advanced

also before i forget i couldnt find Gti brakes that would work with the one piece molded calipers (non sliding) which is what i have, so i just ordered solid rotors (239mmx12mm), but i couldnt figure out which brake pads to pair with them,

sorry for all the questions, ive been doing a ton of research for a couple weeks and still have a hard time finding some of the parts for this car, i assume its because its the Mexican version ? 97 Mk3 TD Jetta GL it seems like its a frankenstein of different models or eras

Cheers
