How do you plan on going from 18.3 to low 17s?
-
Years ago when my Rabbit was a heavy (2250'ish lb) street machine and with 14psi but with the stock revv limiter, I ran a best 1/4mi time in the low 17's, but I remember thinking that I'd have been in the high 16's if I was able to take a pass without the pop-off valve opening.

Around 10 years ago we had a 1.6TD IDI Golf hammering well below 15 sec quarter mile times.
According to a self employed turbo shop prefessional (who had a peek under the hood) said it had a Garrett T03, 0,48AR turbine with 45trim compressor charger installed. Such charger can be found in a Saab 900 turbo from very late 1980's.

i went out last night and my last run was 18.12@75mph
that was running 15 psi
no i/c(which is coming in soon)
pretty much stock pump...just turned up the fuel
crappy all season tires
and it was also my first time out racing. the rest of the times were around 18.4
this is in a mk1 1.6 TD rabbit with no seats in it

ok at waterfest, i did a 15.7@85,,and thats no ic,,whupped clutch, and now i have a big 12mm pump, and centerforce clutch let my t3 go closed wastegate all the time,,raceware studs,,like 35 psi all the time,,i got it it had 160k on it,,207k and runnin strong,,i think,w/ compound setup+ic,,ill hit 14s

I ran my Caddy last weekend and the best I could get was a 18.28 @ 72.13 MPH.
I was the quickest 4 cylinder diesel there, ( because I was the only one).
10 lbs. boost
35 shot of nitrous
Gov mod
Advance Mod
No IC
2" straight-pipe exhaust
B-100 Home-Brewed Biodiesel

I've got down to a 16.07 @86 with my 760 volvo with D24t. I broke the rear end before I could get into the 15s... It was getting faster each pass as I got the launch better, but I was having problems spinning just one tire if I launched too hard. I've got a locking diff now so I should be able to get into the 15s since I'll finnally be able to get off the line.
Not bad for a car that weighs over 3000lbs

I ran a 17.6 in the 1/4 mile.
1.6/1.9 combo engine.
Giles super pump
AAZ injectors w/GTD nozzles
Merc. T3 turbo
Corrado intake
2.5 inch turbo back exhaust
FMI
MK4 TDI trans. w/Peloquin diff.

CRANK IT UP!! :D
-
Its just fresh from a rebuild. Only 300ish miles on it. Need to do an oil change and switch to synthetic oil.
I need a MBC or just cap off the wastegate ref. and let my foot be the boost controller ;D.
-
1.6td in my 81 coupe, 2.25 tt exhaust, lots of fuel, and 25-30 psi, and a slipping clutch i did 16.5 the first time i ran it, the next time i ran it i added a cone filter and only had 1/4 tank of fuel, and i did 16.2 this was with a gtech. which are supposed to be accurate for ets but not for trap speed, i think it said my trap was like 92 haha
-
Audi 80 1,6td. 10mm pump, gt2359v etc... 15,54/93mph. That was best at real track, best gtech later 15,0. Later with 12mm pump and in mk1 Scirocco, 14,5/103mph at track. FWD sucks at starts, now waiting to get my quattro at track :)

Yeah my buddy troy has an 8v that will do a 12.19 109mph. CIS too. He is more of a nut than I am :D

damn turbo or nitrous? or is he a crazy crazy na guy
-
These are not drag racers and fwd sux at starting line => baaaad elapsed times. Itīs trap speed that counts with these vehicles :P

I have done a couple of run`s with my bmw (E28; 524TD) and also with my VW Golf MK2 with AAZ engine.
On G-Tech run`s i have make 15,1s with both cars for the 1/4 mile, with the BMW i have just done a 15,2s
on last saturday (the trac is straight upwards), with good start a 14,9 should be possible.
The bmw is (except of the engine) stock condition, which means big leather seats, air condition, power steering,
sun roof, central locking, etc..).
The VW has only done a 16,38s on sunday on the same trac, which is nearly no progress to last year results.
I has done a 9,3s on the 1/8 mile (same trac) for 2 month, but have lost top end power by the last pump
modifcation. I will go ahead with a 12mm plunger as next pump evolution and hope to bring back the top end
power, which i have had before. Also the turbo (T03) is in bad condition and need extremly long to spool, i drive
without wastegate actuation, so boost is between 12-14 psi in first and second gear and 22psi on higher gears.
Best Regards

damn turbo or nitrous? or is he a crazy crazy na guy
Pretty much all stock stuff internally, but external:
Intercooled, some volvo turbo, and used to do nitrous as well, but since the volvo turbo no nitrous. He also welds the spider gears in the trans solid, has a wicked 4 puck solid clutch, and some drag slicks. Some special suspension stuff to help him corner when not drag racing and some other stuff to help him launch.
The inside is gutted except for a the gauges, wiring, and 2 seats. No carpet or roof. I think it weighs a little less than 1600lbs.
Edit*he could be doing better I believe if he ran more cam. He has the stock GTI grind and all the bigger ones he tried he didn't like. Not because of performance, but around town drivability was poor. With his clutch and welded spiders it is hard to drive in say a drive through. With the bigger less vacuum, tough idle cam it is pretty much a park and walk in car and he doesn't want that. *

A local here wirth a Scirocco powered by an AAZ has run 13.7 and is shooting for 12s.

VWs with big cams are RETARDED to drive in drive thrus or traffic jams. only reason my car still only has a 268* neuspeed cam is because its as big as i wanna go, it starts bucking at low speeds. worn engine mounts + a engine that lopes = a not so fun low speed driving experience.
