Title: What metal headgasket for 1.6 mechanical

I've heard all about the metal head gaskets being used on onlder motors, but what's the original application? In other words which one is it?

I still use the 1.9td headgaskets and I have a spare that I have been hacking pieces of the metal layers out of and grafting them into the ones I install on the solid lifter motors.

is the 1.9 HG hydraulic? how does that work?

i thought all 1.9's are hydraulic

correct 1986 was the change over year - halfway through I believe.

935 racer just said that he uses parts of a metal head gasket to graft to make the metal HG work on the solid lifter motor.

can't you guys get a 3 hole or what ever your piston protrusion equils on the heas gasket chart? i just went through this on my 83 td 1.6 and ended up getting a 3 hole gasket from autozone.
