Title: polishing journal and connecting rod on a 1.5

So ive got the journal pretty smooth, two small pits remains but feel it should work after some more polishing. My question is after reading all these articles no one mentions the connecting rod bore and wether that needs to be extra polished? how would one go about hand polishing the upper bore with rod still connected?

Polishing the small end of the rod is generally not done unless new bushings need to be installed in the rods.

At that time, the bushings are honed to size.
