Hi everyone
I have just picked up a mk2 Gold GTD (well a Golf CL with an engine swap) but have next to no experience with diesels! Time to learn learn learn...
The engine seems to run very well as far as I can tell, but it has a pretty decent oil leak. It looks like the leak comes from an injector as there is a lot of oil pooling around the injector. Its so bad that if you look closely you can see it running off down the engine and all over my drive!
Is this a possible point where oil can leak from (valve seat / seal etc.) or is it more likely just coincidence and leaking from the gasket above?
If it is the injector then is this a home fix (same question for gasket)? I am happy to crack in to jobs but don't have many specialist tools and generally get half way through a job only to find I need this VW tool or that modified spanner etc... We can't afford to have the car off the road long so should I get it in to the garage (hate paying money to have stuff fixed, dont we all?)
Many thanks for your thoughts.

99% valve cover. Injector has no oil near it unless the head cracked so bad that it pooled out. It is valve cover and only takes a 10mm socket and a new gasket. I like replacing the stock shouldered studs with non shouldered ones and run the one piece gasser gasket.
