I just picked up a 94 Jetta 1.9l TD here in Wisconsin. It looks and runs great and I'm looking forward to doing a wvo conversion on it. This isn't my first diesel, but I am new to the world of VW. Since this motor wasn't offered in the states, I was wondering what to do about getting maintenance parts such as fuel, oil, and air filters?? Are there any engines that were offered here in the US that use the same filters that I can easily cross reference so I can get what I need locally? Also as far as oil is concerned, I use Synthetic Rotella 5w-40 in my big diesel and was wondering if it's a good choice for the 1.9l? Also, I see numerous references to getting the Bentley manual and have been looking around for one. The closest one I've found mentions a 1.9l TDI, but I don't see one for a 1.9L IDI. Is there a specific manual I need to look for?

Fuel and oil filters are the same (as later model 1.6L's).
Air filter is the same as most other 93-98 MKIII's,so most parts places can look it up for a gasser.
Use good Mann or Bosch filters if possible.
5W40 synthetic is the best bet for your engine.Rotella is OK.
I don't know about the Bentley manual,as I use the Mitchell On-Demand system.Even it has no 1.9L IDI info,just the 1.9L TDI.
If your stuck for any parts, let me know,I can probably cross reference them for you,or can supply them if needed.
