Title: Are VW 1.5NA and 1.6NA injections pump interchangable?
Post by: SR Heer on April 28, 2014, 10:22:04 am
I am needing to know if the VW 1.5NA and 1.6NA injections pump are interchangeable?
I have a know working injection pump off of a 1.5NA that I would like to put it on at 1.6NA.
Then later find another pump that will work for 1.5NA- whether it need be a 1.6 or 1.5. Thanks

You can do it. The timing curves aren't the same and the 1.5 is governed a bit higher I think.

makes sense in that horse power is in the higher RPMs for 1.5 vs 1.6 but as far as timing curve goes - what would be noticed if anything as far as function ability and or performance? I can check static timing it may be different also - thanks

Being as how old these pumps are, and the relatively broad range of specs when rebuilding a pump I doubt you will notice much, if any difference.
