There were a bunch of transmissions used.

i just read my trans. code. It is a 4S20129.
Is this a Diesel Transmission??
on scirocco.org it lists a 4S, but doesnt say what model it is.

It's a 020 tranny.Good low final drive ratio,but the overdrive 4th gear and a .75 fifth.

thanks very much. Sorry for being such a newb at trany's, but i never delt with them so far.
how do you make out that it is an 020?
where does it list the ratio's for an 020 on scirocco.org?
and do you think this is the original trany for my 1990 mk2 td?

Yes,it is probably original.All thise cars used the 020 transmission,just different version were available,depending on final drive,individual gear ratios,and output flange size.

020 ACH (1985)
020 AGS, AOP, or 4S (1986-1990)
020 AWY (1990)
020 AVX (ECO Diesel)

So sayeth the Bentley, page 4 of the manual transmission section.
