I have been reading the faq on this. for people who have done this, was it the best base to start with. At the start its mentioned 1.6 pump, but the rest of the faq mentions 1.9 parts for the lever, etc.
What's best? will a 1.6 as a base work with the TDI stuff and changes to lever, etc.?

honestly... scrap that info... if you want least isue.. rover pump used from the uk... for the gambling price... aka may need rebuilt... or a new libby pump for the its done and i do not have to worry bout it...
used rover pumps = 200-300... libby 1100ish i think.. think of cose of rebuild thats the differance...
else talk to 8v of furry.. took him a while to scrap his franking pump for the rover one... and i do not think he has looked back..
i been using rover set up for 23k now.. just started 3rd season..

Honestly, the only difference to ANY of these VE pumps is there internal bits. The cases are all pretty much identical (with regards to the dive-by-wire TDI stuff) and pieces swap around pretty easily.
If you want to, I am sure there is the proper guidance in that M-TDI thread to build a full hybrid pump, pretty sure I read it there.
HOWEVER! The time, effort, money, headaches, more money, more effort, more headaches.. Is completely not worth it unless you have no other option than say, fab skills a few old pumps laying around.. and a TDI engine ;).

Can you clarify the Rover pump type? Is it a straight bolt in and replace the TDI ( ahu in my case) ip. No mods required?

you have to bore out the mounting bracket where the snout comes through on a rover pump.

also need mk4 style pully/hub... or custom fab one.. throttle linkage needs lenghtened some.. need to reuse th edelevery valves off th etdi.. and the rear mount bracket with 13mm blt under lines.. but as for operating a tdi.. gov mod thats it.. do no thave to really open i tup to make i twork..

The Rover pump is a very good pump to start with. It is a better match to the ALH than it is to the AHU as the snout is the larger ALH style. I recently installed one on an ALH and it worked well. On the AHU you would need to enlarge the bore of the pump bracket. The LR pump also uses a two part sprocket similar to the ALH and so has the pump mounted solidly instead of the slotted holes and rotation of the pump body for timing. Because of this, one would need to either use the ALH hub and sprocket or slot the three mounting holes of the injection pump. I used the ALH hub and sprocket. I needed to trim a little off the top of the pump snout where the timing pin goes as the ends of the bolts holding the two parts of the sprocket together would hit the pump case. In order to use the timing pin method, one would have to add a bushing to the timing pin hole and go through a fair bit of effort to get the hub set correctly. I didn't think it was worth it so I just set the hub so the pin could be used for the rough timing for belt installation. The Land Rover delivery valves are also the long version rather than the short version that the TDIs use. Because of this you would either need to swap in a set of short delivery valves or bend the metal lines to fit the longer delivery valves. I've done both and either is a viable option. The small mounting plate at the distributor head is also not correct and so you would need to either modify it or replace it. I used a 1.6 plate but it might have needed a couple m6 holes drilled, I don't recall. The accelerator lever setup is a little odd and the angles aren't great. I welded a small piece onto mine. All said and done the Land Rover pump is a very good option. I also went through mine before installing and needed to replace the camplate, governor shaft and governor assembly with flyweights as those parts were damaged.

the rover pump is for a 300 tdi, i think a 200 tdi can work but the 300 is better. I have the part number on my other laptop i can post later. Talk to ryanp on tdiclub, he was going to ship me a few of them over here. But in the end I manned up and got a libby pump for which im excidely waiting on ;). It seemed like the better option in the end for what I wanted to do, but i have an ahu and not an alh.

I considered collecting some and shipping some to the US, 300tdi pumps come up for around $250 on UK ebay.
Hell i nearly bought an unused refurbished one for £120, kicked myself so much when i missed the auction.
anyway, it's what I plan to use. i think apart from the mounting (using either ALH or a bored out bracket and the alh's 2-part pulley) it's pretty straightforeward to get it running. Just needs the old pump's 'output ports' putting on.
On the other hand, they will have spent their life on filthy old land rovers probably not getting treated perfectly, whereas a purpose built 'new' pump will be pretty much guaranteed. have sure heard a lot about libby and others' pumps

I kept the long delivery valves and bent the lines to fit on both of my personal mTDIs. It's easy on the ALH and a bit harder but not too bad on the AHU/1Z. Otherwise, a set of TDI or 1.6 delivery valves can be used.

Judging by the fact that I have had 1.6 valves in my rover pump since installation.. id say no. Lol.
Yhe rover ones are too long. Ahu ot alh ones will work fine.

I agree, either TDI or IDI delivery valves will work fine on an mTDI.

Great... that makes it easier. My Landy pump has a cap at the top of the aneroid. I'm guessing my adjustment screw is hiding under that?
Now onto the seal kit. Any idea which I need? Is there one kit that covers all seals in the body and LDA or will I need to piece a kit together?
If the latter, I'm thinking I'll need the DGK121, and the LDA o-ring (1 460 210 347). Does the diaphragm have a part number?
