Title: Tach - W Terminal

So my 82 happens to have an alternator with a W terminal. Originally wired for the up shift indicator.

I'm just looking for someone to confirm. That means I will be able to retrofit any tach into my car due to it already having a w terminal source right?

Any diesel tach. The W terminal doesn't give a 2-pulse-per-rotation signal like a gasser's tach uses.
