Title: starter
Post by: rodpaslow on November 09, 2012, 07:56:48 am
I had to buy a new starter & I was looking online.  Powerlite (UK) has a MK2 that look like a regular starter-I assuming it has a larger gear reduction than oem.  Has anyone tried one.  I know they're about on par (canada anyway) with a new vw starter price wise.  Just curious if anyone has one and if it helps turn over faster, better than oem?

BIG starters are direct drive

SMALL starters are gear reduction

the mk1, and early mk2 used the big, direct drive 2.5hp model.

the later mk2s, and mk3s used the gear reduction model..

I've got one. Do you want it? Regular 1.6td style.
