No idea myself, but a bigger picture might help somebody who actually does know. Just a thought.

I don't know, but it sounds like it might have been a great deal.

75A? I'd guess it's to relay the exciter wire on the starter or to relay your high beams  ???

Yep,wat I was gonnna say...its a relay..a biggun too! 75amp contact rating
85+86 for the coil,30 and 87 for the contacts just like most others..
never seen one like that, but then again I don't mess with much anything newer than my 99.5pos vr6 jetta...
u can use that sucker for alotta things.nicer than the usual black or gray 30-40amp rated
wow they got smart in newer cars and finally slaved a relay in for the starter solenoid ?

Screw terminals and it's rated to 75 amps?!?!

Where did you get this thing? I can think of so many uses for it like offroad lights for a truck... What does this relay come in, does anybody know?

I've seen those before, it's a horn relay. Bosch ref. 0332-002-150

EDIT: I found this http://www.texasindustrialelectric.com/relays_0332002150.asp

The odd thing is I don't remember why I bought it. I'm in the process of doing a passat gas to 1.9 idi diesel conversion, so I'll use it for the starter.

Thanks guy's. Great help as usual.

OK, why didn't I think of this before... NAPA is telling me this part number cross references to a part used on GM light trucks built between about 1973 and now and was used for the blower motor on some vehicles and also used to run the light bar on an emergency vehicles ... and that it's stock locally for $55  :o The good thing is that tons of these should be available in a junkyard, at least if you live in North America.

I tore apart a bunch of GM trucks, and never saw one of those, not even on my 'Burb which has 2 blowers.
They only had a 63A alternator before the mid '80s.

thats a waste... the starter only needs a tiny little 30a relay to operate it.. hell, it doesnt even need a relay in all honesty.

i would use that thing as an alternator, or headlight relay..

never seen a relay that HEAVY DUTY before..

just use a regular 4 pin relay for your starter..

thats like using a detroit diesel starter on a 1.6 gasser engine (if it would fit)

Isn't the obvious answer glow plugs?  That would be perfect for a pimped out glowplug setup.  Pretty much exactly the right rating.
