Post by: TurboJ on August 05, 2012, 08:48:33 am
May I present to you Aki76's working space and his wife's daily driver, a late model mk2 Jetta.

Enjoy!

And here's the daily Jetta that Aki's wife will drive when it's ready very soon:

There's a 1.9 diesel in there of course:
(http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee303/TurboJanne/Jetta%20II%20TDIC/Aki76s%20stuff/th_akinj2.jpg) (http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee303/TurboJanne/Jetta%20II%20TDIC/Aki76s%20stuff/?action=view&current=akinj2.jpg)

Looking like this:

It doesn't really show on the pictures, but the turbo in there is really quite large... So something is needed to make it spool up:
(http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee303/TurboJanne/Jetta%20II%20TDIC/Aki76s%20stuff/th_akinj4.jpg) (http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee303/TurboJanne/Jetta%20II%20TDIC/Aki76s%20stuff/?action=view&current=akinj4.jpg)

Aki also does gasser engines occasionally; how would a 400hp 2.0 16V suit you?
(http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee303/TurboJanne/Jetta%20II%20TDIC/Aki76s%20stuff/th_talli5.jpg) (http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee303/TurboJanne/Jetta%20II%20TDIC/Aki76s%20stuff/?action=view&current=talli5.jpg)

...and here's how, according to Aki, you should do a down pipe brace:

The timing belt is a special part as well as the pulleys. A wider, stronger belt is needed for 300+ hp.
The injection pump will require considerable power (transmitted by the cam belt, remember) when approaching
those power levels. Many a belt has snapped unexpectedly on high-hp engines with VE pumps.

And the working space on the pictures is from Aki's home. At work he has some more tools  :)

i always thought you might need to do something with the timing belt with bigger pumps, and higher horsepower..

it takes more power to drive a pump that is pushing 2-800% more fuel than stock.. lol.

all it takes, is a few missed shifts, and the timing belt breaks..
