Title: Speedo problems
Post by: dieselherb1 on July 14, 2012, 09:23:59 am
Replaced 4 speed trans with 5 speed ACN trans now speedo off by 30% at least. Will a change in gears fix that? Or what can I do?

You need to swap the red speedo gear from the ACN to the cable. I swapped from an AVX to ACN and the red gear was spot on.

I had a very stubborn red gear, wouldn't come off. Had to put the old cable in a vise and hammer it off, while the green gear from the AVX yanked off easily by hand.

Are you saying remove red gear from cable of the car that the ACN came from? That car has long since been crushed.

Buy a new red gear. Ebay had them when I was looking. Yes the gear should get you back to normal.

you need to match the speedo gear to the ring and pinion ratio..

red = 3.67
white/gray = 3.89/3.94
green = 4.25

if you dont have the right gear for the R&P you are running, then it will never be accurate.
