Title: total seal rings
Post by: silentdub on August 31, 2011, 09:38:03 am
I just read in another post that said use "Total seal rings"

As I am rebuilding a 1.6, can someone point me to where I can get them? I think the total seal speaks for itself.

I didn't want to hijack someone's thread either.

Thanks!

Is where I believe I got mine

Do NOT get an entire set, their top rings and oil rings are the same (if not worse) the to gotez rings my pistons came with, wasted a bit of money there. You just want the gapless second ring.

For street use, you only want a Total seal second ring. I'm pretty sure retailers sell them like that

I have the total seal complete set in my ahu about 10k miles on them without any oil usage at all. Also leak down tested it a few weeks ago when I put bigger nozzles in worst cylinder was 2%.  I used there special powder on the walls maybe that stuff is the sh** as they claim. I work at a race shop and total seal is all the engine builder uses.  I have 160 bucks total in them with the powder and there ring land oil.  I couldn't buy a complete set for that amount from the dealer.

My full set from the mentioned link was around $180 shipped (full set)

I don't like the top ring design, It's flat and sharp whereas the gotez set has a rounded top ring. Oil rings were exactly the same.

Damn, 180 is a lot of money. I sent them a note asking for the price of the 2nd ring, I'll see what they want for them. Depending on price, I may just opt for standard rings.

Does anyone know the size of the 2nd ring? I sent the company an email and they need the size, thickness and bore. I don't know what that is as the stuff is back home.
