Title: Long Downpipe Question
Post by: Toby on May 30, 2011, 12:27:25 pm
I just inherited an 6 bolt exhaust manifold with the long downpipe. Instead of the Y being just before the 90* turn with a 3 bplt flange at the end, this one is perhaps 40" or 45" from flange to Y with a slip joint and muffler clamp at the end. I seem to remember that these were supposed to be the hot ticket/euro trick stuff for gas motors back in the day. Any advantage to running this one on an IDI?

no, not really.. its just a catless downpipe..

they were the SHIZZ on a gasser because it did away with the cat, and made the exhaust system flow a little easier..

you might gain a TINY BIT over a toilet bowl setup, but not much really..
