In the summer I picked up a 91 audi V8 for my mother. It was immaculate and very well priced. And goes like hell!
After doing some research into the Audi v8 I found out it was essentially two vw 1,8 16v's put together.
This got me thinking of the dark side.
Is it possible to convert one of the 3.6's or even 4.2 to td by swapping the heads off of a aaz or 1.6 td, pistons, and some fancy crank work (not to mention plumbing, timing....etc).
I have seen these motors making HUGE power, but could they take the abuse of running a relatively low compression (16.5-18:1) twin turbo diesel setup.?

why not use the V8 TDI?

Informative Audi self-training manual on the 4.2L TDI http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_365.pdf
Sounds like a great engine for an A8, a Vanagon, or a total sleeper VW Quantum Syncro wagon!
