BC and Alberta-wheres a good source for all the stuff I need for my HG replacement (studs, timing belt tensioner, etc..) I was looking oon the vwdieselparts site and their prices look good but with it being the holidays I'm worried about shipping lag...where would be a good spot to order from reasonably local and not expensive? I'm in bfnw BC...cheers

I've been ordering parts lately from these guys: http://www.autopartsway.ca/ Good prices and fast shipping.
-
autopartsway.com ftw! They have prices that rival my local autohaus's ;) and with free shipping on orders over $75!? Living in Ontario or B.C you really luck out! They have warehouses in both! I ordered a $300 order last week of miscellaneous parts Thursday night, and had it at my door Friday afternoon!
they have my loyalty and support %100.

So you guys would not be apprehensive about the quality of their torque2yield headbolts and timing belt and stuff? idk much about the quality parts but I recall that VR headgaskets had some dubious quality? There prices on the water pump and headbolts(bilstein?) seem really good, I will probably order some stuff from them :)

I currently have 5,000kms on their belt and tensioner on my 1.6na they were of good quality. I have never had anything bad come from them.
-
I ordered a T belt from them, and it was a Continental. The lifters I got were INA made in Germany. Gaskets were Victor Rienz. Seems like they sell good quality stuff.
-
I like that they list the manufacturer right away... and often give you a choice of several identical parts from different manufactures so you can pick your favorite.
-
I've used them and autopartsonlinecanada.com. Both have about the same selection and cost pretty much. I did have an issue once with autopartsonline - my order showed up missing a set of rotors and I actually had to start getting pretty tough with them to get the money refunded despite them confirming right off that they were in fact not shipped.
Since then I just use autopartsway.ca.

I believe all those places are just franchises:
Autopartsonline - BestPriceCarParts - Autopartsway, etc.
They all get their parts from the same warehouse.
If you check, say exhaust valves for a 1985 Golf Diesel.
they'll all have TWR and AE valves, but you'll find that they ALL
only have three TWR, because that's all the warehouse has in stock.
They DO show different prices, though, on some things.

Yes all those companies order from Worldpac. If you look at the pictures you can see the Worldpac logo. Personally I buy all my parts from Giles. He gets them from a different supplier that typically uses high quality parts (Made in Germany) for only slightly more. For example, I got a set of Zimmerman rotors for maybe $5-$10 more then the ones sold at the various online stores. One exception is the headgaskets, from what I have seen they are identical but I think the prices are about the same regardless. It's worth emailing and asking for prices IMO.
-
If I were out that way I'd give Giles the business just because he deserves it IMHO.
FYI though the parts through the online suppliers are often pretty darn good. The brake rotors I got were Zimmerman - that's actually the only option they have. Thermostat / Timing Belt / Accessory belts I've bought were all made in Germany too.
-
I've use bestpricecarparts a few times and am always impressed. They ship things that day. I had a radiator in east sooke less than 24hrs after ordering. It was even the right one!
Techtonics tuning is also very very good for all the fun stuff that the wholesalers don't carry.
bfny.....is that what they call Ymir these days?

Oh, last time I bought brake rotors from autopartsonlinecanada.com they were TRW or something like that. They were still good quality though.
