Any chance you could take a pic of the a/c compressor the next time you are there?

I have a td motor with an ac that needs a new compressor. Are they interchangeable?

Depends on the year. All MK1 diesel cars use the same compressor (NA or TD)

And,

All MK2 diesels use the same compressor (NA or TD).

But, MK1 and MK2 use different compressors (well, technically they interchange with some modifications).

Uncut harness for engine bay and dash??????

Dash harness is strait - except for where i cut the leads on the front door maplight/door actuators. (oops sorry)
And cut the wires going to the door speakers.

I was surprised to see how different mk1 jetta dash wiring is from Rabbits and Trucks. This 82 has the old style plastic capsule fuses.
And tons of wires going everywhere.

Will check the underhood wiring. Don't remember seeing any cut wires, and alternator is still plugged in factory.

Nope.
This place won't resale a car.
It was wayyyyyy above parts car status too.
Too bad the lady didn't put it on craigslist or something first.

But so it goes.

You live in NC? I can pick up sometime this week if you're interested.

I have an 82 4door and I'm looking for the leatherette seats, both fronts and the back.

I might consider taking the dash (not the gauge cluster or any of the wiring), the door panels, and the AC hoses if the price is right.

Text me at (631) 223-8127

Thanks

I'll get you some pix of the seats in next day or two - if you need me to. But here is the bottom line/full disclosure details.

Driver front - on the upright section of seat - has small/light wear on very lower part of outer bolster. Probably from seat belt use where lap belt comes over. Its minor, but mentionable.

Rear seat - passenger side - upright section - i noticed one or two small sized threads exposed on a seam. Nothing separated or split - but mentionable.

I would be dancing on clouds to have them in my Truck or my 85 Jetta TDGL - but fronts don't fold forward so no go in my Truck. And the rear would probly take some mods to fit Mk2 - if fit at all. So probly better to let someone else have them.

$150 all on the seats, no front seatbelt receivers, and i removed the plastic adjustment knobs and plastic trims from fronts.
Might could negotiate on those plastic pieces - but would rather keep them.
Might could source plastics from another 82 that is ragged rusty and red - that also has a black interior (cloth). My friend owns it and is going to part it out now, also.

Just the bare naked dash - or dash and lower plastic trim/pockets ?
A/C controls ?

Front door panels are mine for my Truck.
Rears are perfect as new if you just mean the rears.

I can get another set of fronts almost as nice - in black - the passenger side has indentations showing where panel clips are located across the top. From the ragged rusty red 82 Jet i mentioned.

A/C hoses are uncut best of memory.

My cell is old school. Select from 3-4 characters for every letter everytime. I'm not a texter type.

But email works good for me, or PM's on here.
email = [email protected]

Thanks

Im new to the forums but i have a friend who told me about this thread, If you still have the whole engine harness please call me ASAP at 615-663-5133. Arnaldo, 82 Jetta Diesel with a huge electrical issue and a lot of monies in already invested to back out... lol

VitaminD, should be able to help you out one way or another, hopefully.

Quantum TD put in asking about engine wire harness previously so have to respect his first right dibs.

But its possible there will be 2 good engine wire harnesses from this, since my friend is going to part out his ragged rusty red 82 Jetta NA Diesel 5spd AC Sunroof car - that astonishingly will still crank/run.

I need to look his red car over close and get a list of what all is still good on it. Its been parked for a long time.

Thats a good looking car there VtaminD !

You might would be interested in a very rare unique piece i have been hoarding for a couple years.

I've got an aftermarket rear spoiler made for mk1 Jetta / Fox trunk lids. It was made back in the day, when the cars were new.
NLA for a long time now.
Its thick solid dense black rubber, in great shape.

Wraps over the edge on back and covers about 2 inches on top of deck and 2 inches on back of deck. Has notch over trunk lock button.

I posted about it on Vortex a couple years ago and got some cool feedback on it. Was gonna sell it then and backed out. Because when i laid it on an Mk2 trunk - it also fit kinda nice. They don't have the lock button like mk1 - but "was going to use it anyway".
Has never happened.

I had some pix on an old Pbucket account of it that i posted on Vortex. Don't know if can still access it, and if they would still be on there.
Will try to see.

I need it bad. Washed the Jetta and about 4 gallons of water leaked in through the door cards. Happened when I tested as soon as I put the water to the side windows  :'(

Do you mean for the rear doors ?

If yes, then yes i will.
And its nice stuff.

But ... you'll be buying a pair of rear doors basically - and i'll pull what you want off of them.  :)

$100 to go that way.

Get back over to the mk2 section ! lol
This is an mk1 parting out.  ;)

You probably need the roofline belt molding/weatherstrips - and possibly the door jamb rubbers too. I can get door jamb rubbers like new for mk2 - roofrail pieces will take some more beatings of the bushes. But have a fresh prospect that can be surveyed.

Check what you got and lemme know what you need.

Okay, we crossed horizons while posting.

I'll check on some of those for you ---- from an MK2.
Check your roofline molding/weathestrips !

If water is getting in the car heavy, doubt all of it is coming in around the window seals - most of that would go out the lower drains in the bottom of doors.

I had my daughter spray the car while I was in it. I would have her spray at each body line and wait a minute or two before moving up. I had 0 water until the side windows. After about 5 seconds there was a steady pour coming through the door cards. I had her stop and in a few seconds it stopped. I had her continue to do this on and off for a little while and decided to spray more of the car. The only stuff that got in was the side windows.
Maybe my drains are completely blocked, but I didn't think it looked like they were. I even had Glass Dr. brother in law come out to replace the front glass if needed and he said it was the factory glass. Looked pristine and most of the seals did and he had no clue other than to spray with water when we could.
Either way let me know what you find.

Wow, you really got some bad window seals man.

What year model is yours ?
There is a little window, and a big window on mk2.

Think its 85-87 is little (has a triangle artificial vent window up front that does nothing)

And 88-92 is just one big solid piece of glass - without a triangle piece.

It is the 4 door 86 with the triangle that does not a thing

I have an 81 MK1 caddy and i don't know if it matters if the seals are from the back or the front.  100 for all the seals around the door????  i will be willing to pay for that IF I know they will work on my front doors....

If you have round headlights, no help here.
Jet is different arrangement from Rabbit/Truck and has 4 square headlights.

Tie rod ends can be had for 6-15 each new.
Complete tie rods are 15-20 each new.
Used wouldn't be practical for either of us.

Jet has Rear sway bar, but idunno if it will work on a Truck.  :-\

Engine harness, can "probably" help with.

Thanks

Mint Trunk Lid is back on the market ... i think.

Buyer has tenatively backed out due to shipping cost.
Actual cost is $35 from NC to Wisc. by UPS.

But a UPS Store type place quoted $65 plus $20 to package it, and scared him to death. Have advised him of actual cost and its possible he "might" reconsider. Waiting to hear back.

Will update status as becomes known.
But figuring it is for sale again.
