I checked my temp ( coolant )and after installing the one piece design silicone engine hoses my temp are down 15 to 22 degree's.
The plastic T fitting the connects the three hoses together was causing some flow restrictions.
My new production is a one piece design
Iam sure the 5 ply design will be the last set.
Let me know if you would like a pic

The install was easy , I did remove the alternator and bracket after draining the coolant, while i was there i did replace the two o'rings on the crank breather.
This is where my tiny leak was at.....

I've always sort of wanted a diesel to run as warm as possible and be safe. They seem to run better, cleaner and get better MPG/power. I'd just noticed last week I put an 80C t-stat in for instance, and with the correct 87C the thing runs much better. The difference in the two is quite apparent on the gauge. Just a thought.

I start seeing coolant temp's around 200 plus at 75/80 mph
10 psi / 765 egt
MK1 caddy with a/c type radiator, next will be a 16 v scirocco type with dual electric fan's
My Mcnally gauges dont lie....
My local wrench says the #1 problem is the plastic t fitting ( chinese made ) on coolant hose assy's
There even in a German meyle box...

Where can you get a 80 C thermostat? I would really like to have a handful of those. I can't seen to find any, anywhere.
For the high-hp tuned IDIs a cooler t-stat would be really useful, to preserve the cylinder head.

I've seen stupid high oil temps on turbo's running hard, but never seen the coolant gauge budge. Weird. Those oil temps though, we put a huge thermostatically controlled oil cooler on the 1.9L TD in the 82 Caddy years ago, fixed it right up.
