Title: Boost Pin
Post by: dennis on April 07, 2010, 12:18:10 pm
So I thought I would give myself a little more fuel under boost. I pulled the diapham, and pin, and the little rider pin is recessed into where it is suppose to protrude from. Also has fuel collecting in the boost pin housing. Anyone know a good baseline of turns to set the starwheel? This thing has been jacked with. If I bottom the starwheel how many turns from bottom would be a good starting point for spring tension?

I'll tune this thing on the way home. Gotta 90 mile commute. Easy enough. Just 4 screw, and tweek. Two or three stops max.

Pretty much you fiddle with it till you get the right combination of smoke/power for your needs and your engine.

Fuel hanging out in there is NOT a good thing - it means the seal around the little finger that rides the boost pin has failed.  From what I've seen on here it's a PITA to fix too.  If it isn't fixed you're going to start dribbling diesel out of the LDA vent.

Yeah. Didn't get a chance yesterday. Too many passengers for the Caddy, so I took the Volvo. The engine is gonna have to come out for a freshen up soon (blowby). I will deal with it then. I have a good NA pump if needed before I am ready to dig into an overhaul.
