I had read about this as well and got the idea to make one from scratch instead.  Turned out really well.  Here's a pic of one of the pins I made.  http://s995.photobucket.com/albums/af74/410_photo/gtd%20photos/?action=view&current=IMG_2636.jpg (http://s995.photobucket.com/albums/af74/410_photo/gtd%20photos/?action=view&current=IMG_2636.jpg)

Nice job! So no one has any measurements or procedures??

I usually use my right hand with a firm but forgiving grip...oh wait.  ::)

I think it would be a sin to grind a very precise pin designed by bosch but I needed something with a much steeper ramp than my 1.6 pin could offer.  I made my pin using a half inch bolt and ground out the ramp after taking a few measurements of the travel of the boost pin and the internal lda pin.

For the internal lda pin, I measured the full travel by removing the boost pin and slowly moving the accelerator lever to the full load position.  Using indexed drill bits, I found a bit that just fit between the pin and the inside of the lda.  Mine measured .300".  This determined the thickness of the thinnest part of the ramp.  I found that there is potential for more lda travel but internal mods to the inside of the pump are required to use this travel.

Thanx for all the input, I guess I will just buy a 1.6 pin, and leads on them? new? used? aftermarket?

If you have an aaz boost pin I say go ahead and grind it.  The problem with the aaz pump is on the inside as well.  There is an extra lever on the inside of the top cover that limits the use of the lda anyway.  On the top of the pump there is a lever on the front side that is not connected to anything yet it is moveable by hand.  The inside piece of this lever is what needs to be modified (cut off) to have a full functioning lda.  If you're capable of doing the governer mod than this mod would be easy.

I would try seeing how far the inner lda pin moves before going any farther.  If you get alot of movement than a 1.6 pin or grinding your own pin will make a difference.  If there is very little movement then the top of the pump needs to come off first.  I do have extra boost pins if you need one.

Pics of said lever??

It's right on the front of the pump below the throttle cable bracket. Pull it and the car will stall. It's function is to limit starting fuel so that you don't get a big puff of black smoke when you start the car.

is this the lever thats on automatic diesel pumps?  when you pull it the engine shuts off?

Probably very similar. I've never seen an auto pump before.

I always just thought that that lever was a manual stop lever for under the bonnet?
I snapped it off when doing work to the inside of the pump as it makes it difficult reassembling the pump with it still there.
