Title: Performance Build Help??
Post by: ein bora on March 12, 2010, 05:52:24 am
So okay I'm planning on building a performance diesel for my daily driver. What I have available to me is a 1.6 n/a and a 1.9 td. Some of the parts I have already collected and am planning to use is a PD150 intake, intercooler, giles pump, GTB2056V turbo, 3" exhaust. I also have a 5 cyl td out of a audi 5000 that I was saving for another project, but it does have a 10mm pump that I could have re-done/giles of coarse, if it were a benefit.
So question - what would be a good mix and why, and what should I still be looking at getting.
Any thoughts/idea's appreciated. Thanks.

Depends...
is your daily a kenworth or a vw rabbit?
I say 1.6 all the way as it is awesome, but to each his own.

94 - 1.9 IDI jetta - but it will be a Peterbuilt.

Unfortunately the 5-cyl isn't going to physically fit or mount up to the transmission in your Jetta.

Ontario is very plentiful for TDI's.. what about sellin off what you got and going that route? getting the whole car to donor everything you would need the swap should should be a cinch.

I think you should seriously consider Jeremy's suggestion. You'll get your petercar and the VNT. ALl you'd really need to add is an intercooler and EGT gauge.
