Title: other T3's drop into the factory tubine housing?
Post by: the4ork on March 08, 2010, 05:08:38 pm
just curious if any other t3's would be a drop in to the factory turbine housing and wastegate setup.

or if you can still get any larger t3's with the trapezoid shaped inlet turbine housings

just curious.

Any standard T3 would fit into the VW T3 trap. housing. You do need to whatch out for compressor housing clearence with the intake mani. I'd recomend finding a .36 t3 housing with a standard flange and an 8v gasser turbo manifold and running a 50 trim compressor on a modded 1.6 for a stock style spool and plenty of air up top. They have wastgated housings but i'd recomend an external gate for higher flow and better control.

MODEL PART NO. TRIM     EXDUCER DIA. MAJOR DIA.

I just bought a mercedes T3 and the turbine inducer(major) is larger 2.559 than the STD or VW turbine. The exducer(minor) is the same i believe so its like a stg 1.5. the ford may have an odd turbine but your vw turbine shaft will work really you could just bolt the comp wheel and housing on to your VW hotside if theres room against the intake.
