Title: piston ring gap
Post by: mattmey on October 27, 2005, 09:39:03 am
Just got freshly bored block back and starting to put it back together.

Was woundering if the ring gap on Goetz pistons are good enough to run out of the box or if you have to file the ends.  If I have to file the rings what is the recommonded gap?

Thanks

0.3 TO 0.5MM WEAR LIMIT 1.0mm; or is that just for the old 1.5? :?:

My Bentley's  calls for the upper and low compression rings to be gapped at .3-.5mm (.012-.020"), and for the oil scraper ring to be gapped at .25-.40mm (.010-.016"). Wear limit for all rings is 1mm.

Pistons and rings are brand new so I don't have to worry about wear.  Hopefully not for awhile atleast.

Thanks for the specs
