So i measured my internal pump pressure and it was extremely low. like 15psi at idle. Ran fine tho with a lil smoke but i believe my injectors need to be rebuilt. So i bumped up the pressure to around 25 at idle and now in the mid to upper rpm ranges it sounds like my head is about to explode, like either my pump timing was super advanced or my valves were waaaay out of adjustment. sounds like a old Chevy diesel. any thoughts as to what caused this? thanks fellas.
edit. just measured pump timing and it's at .029 on the gauge so super retarded but if i advance it anymore it sounds like it's gonna chatter itself apart.

From hagar,
"Pressure in pump MUST be 43.5 Psi at 1000 RPM engine "
"Pressure at 2000 Rpm -about 75.4 Psi"
What is "idle"? Do you have a tach?
I assume your .029 is in inches then, IIRC it should be .037"-.040", so yeah, lots retarded.
Is your IP stock? How old since rebuild/calibrate?

here are the measurements from my final adjustment.
475 rpms on IP - 20psi
750- 65
1000-120
i'm not sure when the pump was rebuilt but it has once before, also my timing was at .039 when i started but it sounded so bad revving it up that i backed it off. something is for sure wacky tho.
when i started here are my first measurements with no adjustments.
400rpm on IP- 15 psi
725- 25
1100- 38
1400- 45
given these numbers i'm not really sure how it was even running. but it was and running pretty good. faster than my buddy's truck.

oh well i backed the pressure pin back out and retimed it to .039" and now it's back to normal and i won't worry about it. lol
