Looking to get some arp head studs, anyone know the part number for a 1.6td. Then i'm off to order some from online. They aren't the same as a 1.8 8v gasser are they?

no, they are different than the gasser.
go to headbolts.com, they have a section for VW, and a link from there to diesel VW's
they have them listed by application on that page, good prices too.

Apparently ARP has come out with some new studs built for the TDI, which conveniently is the same as the 1.6TD. I'm not sure if they are different then the Ford ones or just in a different box

all the sets i've bought have said " ford cosworth " on them

I will bet that the "new" TDI ones are just in a new box.
the ones I bought had a sticker on the plastic wrap that said "VW Diesel 12MM" and under it on the box itself was a sticker that said "Ford Cosworth"
I am sure that there are many engines that use bolts the same dimensions as the ones our engines use.

The OP catches some serious flak over there, it can get very Vortex! There was some talk that they are a stock cummins arp part that happens to fit but i'm not sure.

Can't do it I'm affraid, I've had to sign a letter to my insurance company stating that I won't sell to US/Canada anymore.
They won't cover me for product liability, citing something about "punitive damages" and the "highly litigious society", basically the won't cover me for selling stuff there, it going wrong and me getting sued.
Never happened, but to be fair for the little I did send there it's really not worth the hassle.
It is a pain for me, and a pain for some of you lot as I do have certain parts made that no one else does.
I have however sold some parts to Van Cafe, but he paid UK tax and had them shipped to Germany, then onwards to the US, extra bit of postage and another 15% ontop of the price for our tax but it's the only way I can do it without getting in trouble.
I will be having a ring around come renewal time but at the moment no US/Canada sales, sorry.
It does seem strange though that I am cheaper in the UK selling a US product?

Thats too bad, not all of us are litigious. Your insurance companies underwriters tend to be over protective. Give your broker a jingle and see if a simple liability release will allow them to let you sell over here again. I supplied a company 2 years ago with a commercial liability form so the underwriter could take a stare at it and pass it off to the legal department to see if a release could be the ticket. It was still being mulled when I left the insurance business.
