I'm not an expert here but AFAIK it'll bolt up but the ports are 'D' shaped instead of oval.

Why?  The tdi intake has different port configurations, and is a notoriously bad design (sharp bend right in front of port).  You are far better off, IMHO, to clean up the inlet ports in the head and runners of the NA manifold.  I have done that with NA1.6 (full port job) and got FANTASTIC results.  One thing I never did get around to, though, was putting a decent header on a 1.6NA to compare results (do everyting with turbo these days).

well i have i have an 91 jetta NA, i also have an 03 jetta tdi. I want to upgrade the tdi to a vnt 17 leaving me with a vnt 15. i thought i could use vnt 15 on the NA and turbo it. what are some ideas that you guys have.

I wouldn't run boost through a D to 0 shaped combo. I currently have a 1.6 NA intake on my 1.9 NA and when I laid the gaskets on each manifold, there is not a lot of sealing surface. I think you'd be asking for a boost leak.

Maybe someone with a 1.9 intake on the 1.6TD can comment on that though

I've got a TDI intake on a 1.6.  I did it because I had one laying around, and it fits with the exhaust manifold I have.  (nothing else would!!!)

I re-shaped the intake ports on the head, though it's hard to tell from this picture:

This was an N/A engine.  Though I have started it up, I have not put boost to it yet, but I don't see any problem with it.
