Title: WTB D24TD
Post by: dennis on October 21, 2009, 03:29:08 pm: This engine will be in a mid 80s volvo 740, or 760. Might even be in an older Audi 5000. A cheap re-buildable core would be ok. I know there are some Volvo guys lurking around here. I am in Clarksville TN

Post by: dennis on October 22, 2009, 07:02:20 am: It is a VW/Audi engine, but I just checked an old labor guide, and your right. 79-81 were 5 cylinders. 1.9L in fact. I wonder what VW or Audi did with this 6 cylinder other than selling them to Volvo. At any rate Still looking for a local D24T.

Post by: rs899 on October 22, 2009, 07:40:52 am: VW used the 6 cylinder in some sort of mini-bus in Europe, IIRC. Presumably one that provided better access to the second timing belt etc... than in the Volvo.

The D24 was also used in some generator sets, I've seen 2 myself.

800-446-5865 Complete engine I think. http://www.pearsonsautowrecking.com/ Ridgecrest CA. You could probably use a NA head. All the parts bearings rings, and such are the same as VW 1.6
