Title: Injector pump leak
Post by: stupidsongs2 on October 15, 2009, 12:48:18 am
I have a leak that appears to be coming from the large triangular nut in between the injector heads (the circled bits in the photos) and I have a few questions.

1: Where can you buy an adapter to fit over the bizarrely shaped nut?
2: Can the seal behind the nut be safely changed while the pump is still on the car?

Damn you ultra-low sulfur diesel!

YOu can get the seal from a bosch dealer..   AS far as the tool I favved one for scratch...   Probably a certain size 12pt socket that could be ground out to work as well..    Chances are good you're probably going to be doing the rest of the seals before long..

I used a 12 pt 24mm socket and ground 6 of the points out.  It has worked great many times.  That seal is incredibly easy to change on the vehicle.  I'd torque the strange nut back on to 60+ ft. lbs.

Excellent! That's just what I was hoping to hear, thanks a ton!
