10-12 psi is the factory spec, iirc.

The K03 is the smallest turbo known to man in regards to a car.
I am running 20PSI of boost on the K03. Been told I`ll only get 10000kms from it though.
It was at 10PSI from factory. Thing runs out of air at around 3000RPM on load.

Would it be safe to run around 15 to 18 psi with no mods? Or am I looking at blowing something up

Have you an intercooler?
Peugeot 306 1.9dt came with k03 and intercooler and ran at 14psi standard, with many people upping it to 18/19psi reliably.

No intercooler, 353,000KM on her. I'm awaiting my boost gauge to arrive so I can set it. I don't want to blow the motor up...yet lol

boost is not the enemy. head bolts and fiber gaskets are tho.

I'm thinking about doing the rings, put a metal HD on and maybe some ARP studs.

is it smaller than a T2 garrett?  on my gtd the trubo and wastegate were set at 7.  i'm running 15 now and thinking of going to 20.  egt's are not over 1100

More boost will decrease your egts.
I would suggest grinding your boost pin a little more for some extra juice.

A k03 would be smaller than a garrett t2.
A k03 would be equal in size to a garrett gt15, roughly.

I thought the K14 and GT15 were similar and the K03 was the baby.

Stock should be around 9 psi. If you're gonna boost it further, get ARP head studs.

Gt15 / k03 are simular sizes,

and k14/t2 are simular sizes, t2 slightly bigger...

How come you guys manage to get power with such little boost, i need a good 25psi to get all my fuel burnt, goes well for it, but seems when your all managing with 15psi, thats standard on my car...

dont forget elevation...it plays a big role in turbo spool up......some of these guys are like 600 feet off the deck.....I'm spooling at 4,500 ft above sea level....the air is thin up here!!..lol

I was told by the import shop today (only VW lol) and he told me I could safely run 18 to 20PSI without Headstuds, He doesn't think my car's got any boost right now since it is slugish on the in higher RPMs

the reason i only got about 20 psi is because im at about 50 feet above sea level. there is a few parts of the town that are actually below sea level. i totally forgot about that though, the altitude thing and the air being thinner or thicker. i guess im pretty much at the best spot i could be to make some power.

I live on the side of the ocean lol, But we tend to travel up into the mountains often. How much will that affect the boost?

I'm no expert..but when the guys from cali come out here and sled pull they cant hardly get their turbos to lite...my buddy had 11.0-12.0 runs in his cummins in cali...comes back home to Utah and cant barely get 14.0...and SMOKES like a train..
you sea level guys are lucky!!! ;D

Maybe check for leaks in your system.
Could be bleeding boost off and wasting all that good air.

I run a k03 on a tmic at 19.5psi, post ic air temps go above 70degC in high gear at full throttle, it is a truely sh*t turbo bar the quick spool up though it has been reliable for nearly half a year now at this pressure daily.

I think i'm going to push 15 maybe 18 at the most
