Have any of you ever heard of such a use for our engine?

He says:
"1.6L VW Diesel. This engine only has 110 hours on it. I believe this engine was made in 1981 but not completely sure. It taken out of a Alturdyne generator. It was mounted with the crankshaft vertical, so the oil pump pick-up, oil pan, and valve cover are different. I have a replacement valve cover. It also comes with the Alturdyne service manual, Bentley service manual, flywheel, starter, fuel filters, electronic governor, and a mechanical actuator. This would be a great engine for a restoration project."

I sold a 1.5 recently to a guy that was gonna put it on a generator. it's a pretty popular thing in the whole off grid/hydro power people. and from what I hear, michigan is turning (or already has) become a hot spot for RE(renewable energy) manufacturers. never saw his setup though. i thought it was kinda weird that he wanted it so bad considering it was a 1.5, and in pieces. he said he had all the stuff to make it work, so......he bought it with a smile
but hell, you can get a nice diesel mk1 or 2 for that kinda loot.
