Hi everyone!
I picked this Jetta up last summer as a daily driver, it was stock for awhile, now it's slowly turning into another project car...
As it sits today:

Vmaxx Coils
15" Corrado Steelies
GTI Smoked Dual Chamber E-codes
GTI VR6 Seats
GLX Taillights
European Black Emblems
I've decided to perk the motor up a little bit, and therefore I am waiting on some parts and then I will get to work. This is what I've ordered:
- ACT 6 Puck Sprung Clutch
- 16V Pressure Plate
- New flywheel
- ARP Headstuds
- Block gasket set
- Head gasket set
- Transmission input shaft seal
- Pushrod seal and bushing
- Timing belt and tensioner
I will be freshening up the engine with new gaskets and seals, as well as with the transmission. The stock k03 turbo will be replaced with a 1.6 Garrett T3 and I will be welding up a 2.5" turbo back exhaust. I can't really afford a Giles pump yet (being in school), so I'm building everything so it will be ready for it when the time comes. It should still be a quick little car even without the pump. I also have a Corrado intercooler I may use... haven't decided yet.
One quick question, I've been told I should leave the headgasket alone and just install the ARP studs one at a time. I've built a few gas VW motors before and replacing the headgasket while it was apart would go without question. Because of this I'm a little weary of just leaving it be.
I'll update some more when the motor comes out!

Anyone have any advice for the headgasket? :)

Metal :D
Badass car YO!

That is one Nice car.

Go with a MLS gasket. If I were you I would wait until the stock bolts give it up adn you have to het a head gasket.

I would definitely be replacing it with the AAZ MLS gasket (another one hole)... but what are the chances that the head would be no good if I were to take it off and do everything at once? The motor has 255000 km on it now. I would much rather do it all at the same time while I have the motor out; but if I were to possibly need a new head, now would not be the time (funds are tight). What are your guys' experience with this?
Thanks!

Taking the head off won't hurt it. I recently replaced the head on my AAZ since the swirl chamber cracked and bounced around in the cylinder. My head has 280k km and the one I replaced it with had 270k km. All I did was stone the surface of it to get it smooth and relatively flat. It's been working great for the past 2000 km.
While you got the engine apart I would recommend you check the crank gear and get a new bolt as well. For head gaskets, Victor Reinz makes a sweet metal one.

I may as well go ahead and replace it!

Beautiful ride!
