Title: *(&*#^ AC Compressor
Post by: vanbcguy on June 16, 2009, 08:43:28 am
So Jezebel Jetta has an AC compressor... Which is kind of pointless given that the car doesn't have AC - I guess when the 1.6 got swapped in there they didn't bother finding the non-AC brackets.

Well my "AC Compressor", otherwise known as "Jack shaft for my alternator drive belt" seems to have toasted bearings.  I can't even imagine trying to replace the stupid thing.

Anyone got a non-AC set of alternator brackets?  Pretty please?   ;D

I saw one over on the vortex about a day ago. Not sure if its there or not still. Think it was in the diesel classifieds.

Unfortunately it was a "wanted: non-AC alternator bracket"... Seems I'm not the only one!

Interesting... I had misinterpreted the Vagcat page at first:

http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/VE/1988/77/57/874395/

It looks like I do still need some bits of bracketry though.  There's a brace on the bottom of the alternator for tensioning the belt that's unique to the non-AC cars, I think that's all I'll need in the end...

Looks like the bracket is available through WorldImpex too... Hmmm.........
