Title: help with starting
Post by: allsierra123 on June 08, 2009, 08:58:43 pm
I have been trying to start my aaz. No such luck it just cranks good for a second and then it acts like the battery dies as it slowly slows cranking speed. I have kept the battery charged taking it an tested it Also and made sure it was fully charged before cranking. It does the same thing. Its the stock battery I used before the diesel conversion. The starter seems to be working fine Its the stock auto starter as well. Anyone have any Ideas what might be happening?

Off chance, but are all related electrical terminals, grounds, etc. squeaky, shiny clean & tight?

cranking speed is critical to starting out car when it is cold. If you have slow speed, its usually a bad cable - ground maybe, or the starter. Only the diesel will have the power as others have said. If you have a diesel starter, it could have worn brushes / commutator..  You could push / pull start if you have a manual. A steep hill works great !
