Title: Air Tube
Post by: jbm2k6 on May 27, 2009, 06:54:46 am
Okay, so I've searched quite a bit and can't really come up with anything solid because I'm probably using the wrong terms to find what I need. I'm in the midst of undoing all the terrible things the previous owner did to make the car go. lol. I tossed the tube that goes from the inner fender to the air filter box because it was tattered and torn. Is this important? I've seen many cars without the foam tube/pipe, but I'd prefer to replace it. What can I replace it with? I'm doubting I can get a new one.  Any insight is appreciated. Thanks  ;D

replace it with pipe/tubing of the same size and length. problem solved. or are you talking the turbo intake pipe?

I'm running a 1.6 NA, so turbos don't apply to me.  ;D I didn't know if there was anything else I need to know about replacing it or not. I'm not even sure where I would go to get a piece to replace what I removed.

If you are talking about the piece that used to be here...(http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/112/l_3e63f71130b6624fc71d88fa713f4d86.jpg)
then I have one that I kept from this project. PM me for any details, but I think I have it. It is the piece that is about 1-1/4" round on one end and 3" x 1" oval on the other as it ovals over the valve cover then I definately have it. Let me know Lucas ><>

Is that for a Rabbit, by chance? In my Jetta, this went from the fender to the end of the box, closer to the belt system, rather than over it like a Rabbit's does.
