Right I am tryin to order parts for my engine build.
I have a 1.6 Hydro engine and going to put my 1.9 head on it.
I am going to order all parts from AutohausAZ as I have had parts from them in the past to New Zealand and was great service.
I need to order a timing belt and tensioning roller from a 1.6, but what engine code do I use? I can't find a code on the 1.6D Hydro engine?
I also need an MLS gasket and I suspect head bolts, so what age of VW and engine code do I use to order?
Thanks guys,
Barry

Ok If I have worked it out right I need:
Gasket from AAZ engine, but a 1 notch as the 1.9 head lowers compression anyway?
Timing belt and roller from ME engine code?
What head bolts though? And what gasket set, do I get all the 1.6D exhaust and intake gaskets, do they fit on 1.9 head ok?(I will know this when I take it apart but need to order parts first obviously.

Size your gasket based properly on your piston protrusion. It's a tight tolerance already, and going tighter might cause damaging contacts.
Intake valve port shape is different on the 1.6 and 1.9 heads.

So does that mean the 1.6 intake won't fit on a 1.9 head?

port the head to the intake gasket, and then port the intake. there should be enough meat to do it. you really can't beat prothe's TDI intake for this situation...

Where are you located Barry?

New Zealand mate.
I can't use a TDi intake as it will sit too high and hit the bonnet I believe.
