Title: Kick the Tires & Light the Fires
Post by: moTthediesel on April 19, 2009, 10:42:29 pm
Well, actually the car has no tires yet, and kicking the jack stands might not be such a great idea, but light the fires we did! After a long, drawn out build, my rebuilt and massaged Quantum lump is running in my 356 :D

Everything's done in the engine room except for the cold air intake and air cleaner, so we ran a flex hose to a Isuzu Trooper cleaner I had hanging around. Ran the fuel hoses into a jerry jug next to the car. We've got an electric lift pump, so the fuel system was filled easily. Cracked the line nuts on the injectors and cranked till we saw fuel, already had some stinky gray smoke coming out the pipes -- a good sign!

Took quite a while, with just an occasional pop to keep us interested, and lots of waiting spells to let the starter cool, but then suddenly -- VAAAVOOOM! Man, it sounds great! Smooth and steady, and no bad noises, I'm just pumped -- Giles pumped in fact!

I want to thank everybody on this site, you've all been so helpful to me. Most of my time here has been spent lurking and searching old posts, but I can honestly say I couldn't have done it without the help I've found here.

Yeah man!
I've been following that project with interest, and now I can't wait to see some pics and especially videos of the Porschwagen running!

Congrats on your persistence!
