Anyone know what the curb weight of a 1975 rabbit 2-door, w/manual trans and sunroof? Is this the lightest of all of them?
-
one without a sun roof is probably a few #'s lighter. glass weighs more than a thin sheet of steel im pretty sure.
-
Kind of interested as I found one local that has been garaged for a few years and had been setup for SCCA ITC racing. Paint is all kinds of funky colors and has sponsor stickers on it, but from the photo's it looks pretty free of rust. Might be a daydream right now, but I bet if I ever dropped the 1.6/1.9 into it, it would be a screamer.

thats why im keeping my 2d rab around. it doesnt weigh hardly anything. and thats kinda cool you found one with a sun roof. factory option or after mkt?

1750 to 2145lbs.
but really over 35mph aerodynamics have more to do with speed than weight
-
75 is the first year pretty cool.
-
Wasnt the factory sunroof steel?
-
sun roofs are solid. moon roofs are glass....

Sub-Looking for a new hobby? How about hillclimb? Or autocross? We race up hills in Vt. The Rabbit/golf has been our most popular car forever.
Go to hillclimb.org to check it out. Aug 1-2 We'll be having an event at Okemo Ski resort in Vt. Theres gonna be a special class for "alt fuel" vehicles. (Bio D + Veggie) so there will be fellow sootheads.

...hillclimbing rabbits? so im not completely insane then.. i thought i was one of the only ones that knew about there awesome offroad abilities. my car will climb a hell of a hill with some wide meaty studs. and snow, holy crap, it goes like no other in the snow/ice.

Sub--No dirt involved (on purpose anyways) the road is all tar. When we used to race Mt Washinton there was dirt sections.

My VW rabbit has been on quite a few dirt roads and jeep trails...

hell yea.. just like that, but think alot more mud on the car. i can make my car look like its a 4x4. well you would think it was from how much mud it gets on it. and it goes better in the snow than my toyota.
